Blue-Eyed Boy......

Saturday 23rd February 2008

As weekends go, this one was very enjoyable, and for a change it wasn't anything to do with birds!!

The reason I was enjoying myself so much, was because my nephew and his partner were down from Yorkshire. It was great to see them both again, and it also meant I got to meet my great-nephew Matthew, for the first time :-) . Matthew is almost six months old, absolutely gorgeous and is the best behaved little baby we have ever known.

On Sunday afternoon we went for a walk at Farlington Marshes, and managed to find another five birds for the year list. The only photo I took today, was of Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth (taken in Gosport) - well, you couldn't not notice it.......

Bearded Tits at Farlington Marshes.....

Wednesday 2nd January 2008

We were in Chichester to-day, and on the way home we called at Farlington Marshes for a quick twenty minutes birding.

I must admit it wasn't the best weather for birdwatching, freezing cold, cloudy and windy, so I didn't bother taking the camera with me.

Because of the windy weather, I didn't think we would see any bearded tits, but what do I know?? Thanks to them being very vocal, we quickly located them in the middle section of the reedbeds. We only saw three this time, and not as good views as the other day, but they made my day........

44. moorhen
45. brent goose
46. teal duck
47. pintail duck
48. shelduck
49. curlew

Happy Days.........

Saturday 22nd September 2007

dunlin on calshot beach

Well, what can I say? I have just had the most fantastic time birding in Hampshire, Dorset and West Sussex. I have seen lots of beautiful birds and walked along various stretches of the southern coastline, on mainly dry sunny days. I have met some of the nicest people you could hope to meet but above all I have been at peace with myself and the world at large...........Happy Days indeed!
