Three New Birds......

The clocks went forward during the night, which means British Summer Time has begun!! I have to admit it's been a lovely day here today and a bit warmer than of late, so I'm not complaining....

After a couple of none birding weekends, it was great to be back at Blashford today, and we even managed to see three new birds for the list.

As usual, we saw and heard lots of woodland birds, but the waterfowl numbers have dropped. Also saw my first Brimstone butterfly of the year.

Friday By The Sea.......

I spent the afternoon by the sea at Calshot today. It was nice and quiet with just the odd windsurfer, walker and of course the birds...



It wasn't a bird watching trip as such, but I did have my binos with me, so I made sure I didn't miss anything!!

Birds of note were, brent geese, wigeon, teal, oystercatchers, curlews, meadow pipits, shelducks, pied wagtail, turnstones and ringed plover. Plus lots of gulls. Maybe even some med gulls, but like I've said before, I'm hopeless at identifying gulls, especially in winter plumage.

Testwood Lakes

Despite the showery rain we spent an hour or two at Testwood Lakes, Southampton.

We were we were lucky enough to see some of the Sand Martins fledge today. Some of them popping out for the first time then quickly going back in again!

Other highlights were a Little Ringed Plover a Common Sandpiper and a Oystercatcher with a little chick.
